Launched in 2012 by the 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation, Giving Tuesday began as a movement to create an international day of charitable giving. This year, Giving Tuesday, or #GivingTuesday, will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019.
College Advising Corps is looking to you, its supporters, to help raise $20,000 so CAC can continue to provide life changing advising services to tens of thousands of college-eligible low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented high school students.
Over the next few weeks we will share inspiring stories of students who have overcome significant barriers only to then go on to pursue their dreams of attending college.
Liz and Salma
When Liz met Salma, an undocumented high school senior, she had to tell her that she couldn’t receive federal or state funding to attend college.
“It really hit hard when she was rejected from scholarship after scholarship.”

Thankfully, Salma had Liz, a full-time college adviser at her high school, advocating for her. Your gifts support current CAC advisers who are helping students, like Salma, overcome the barriers that might keep them from going to college.
As a result of Liz’s help navigating the possibilities and paperwork and Salma’s hard work, Salma received a full-tuition scholarship through Dream.US.
“We cried tears of joy when we learned Salma would realize her dream to receive a college degree,” Liz said.

When you give to College Advising Corps now through Giving Tuesday, you give opportunity to students like her.
This year, when you give during #GivingTuesday, your donation will be matched 100% by our board of directors up to a campaign total of $20,000!
