| Warren Early College High School is excited to have Jennifer Fisher, college advisor from the Carolina College Advising Corps, to work with students on college preparation skills and career planning. Pictured above, Fisher presents her first lesson, "Brainstorming About College." |
It was a good but busy week at Warren Early College High School! Our classes are really getting full with School Town being started and homework being given more regularly and getting harder. We've been working on note-taking and keeping organized. We have also found out that studying every night is very important for success at Warren Early College.
We began our first college class, ACA 115, Success and Study Skills with Beth Brockhaus and Crystal Brantley. Setting goals and making good choices has been the topic this week as we start learning to be better students and members of this school. As ninth graders, this is a challenge for us, but by working together we know it can be accomplished.
Our first Student Chat Night is scheduled for Aug. 28 at 6:30 p.m. This will be a chance for us to chat with the principal and discuss our school and make recommendations for our best learning.
All Learn and Earn early college high schools are provided a coach to assist the efforts of change, as we become an effective new school. Coaches are highly skilled educational leaders who are trained to support new schools in the New Schools Project. Our change coach is Dennis Davis from Raleigh. He visited us on Monday and met with Principal Danylu Hundley before spending time in our classrooms and on the campus. We look forward to his many return visits.
We will be presenting the vision of our school and its mission at community events. If you would like for us to be in your program, call us at (252) 738-3598.
